Best Beijing Restaurants: 36 Places to Eat by Cuisine
Beijing's restaurant scene turns over fast and most lists never catch up. These are the best Beijing restaurants checked against the 2026 Michelin guide, hotel dining lists and dated 2024 to 2026 coverage, grouped by cuisine, with addresses.
Every list of the best Beijing restaurants goes stale the moment it is published. This one was checked again in October 2026, entry by entry, against the 2026 Michelin guide, the hotels’ own dining lists and dated 2024 to 2026 coverage. A venue with no current evidence of trading was cut, not kept on trust. What is left is 36 places, grouped by cuisine, Chinese first, with the address you need to find it and no phone numbers to go stale.
What a meal in Beijing costs
Beijing is a first-tier city and prices run roughly 20 to 35 percent above Xi’an or Chengdu. A casual local meal is ¥25 to ¥40 a head, about $4 to $6. A proper sit-down dinner is ¥60 to ¥120 ($9 to $17). The hotel dining rooms further down this page sit in the ¥200 to ¥800 bracket per person once wine is involved, and the starred tasting menus start where that bracket ends.
Peking duck runs on its own scale. In August 2026 a whole duck at Quanjude’s Hepingmen flagship was ¥288, and the 1864 heritage set ¥336. A bird feeds two or three, so call it ¥100 to ¥170 a head before anything else reaches the table. Nobody in Beijing pays one price for “dinner.”
The best Beijing restaurants for Chinese food
Beijing’s own cooking is roast duck, imperial-court dishes and the northern noodle and dumpling repertoire, plus every regional cuisine in the country, because the whole country moves here. The 2026 Michelin guide, released on 29 October 2025, lists 99 Beijing restaurants, 32 of them starred. Two hold three stars: Chao Shang Chao in Chaoyang and Xin Rong Ji on Xinyuan South Road. Six hold two: King’s Joy, Lamdre, Jingji, Lu Shang Lu, Shanghai Cuisine and Blackswan, a French room out in Shunyi that is listed with the international restaurants further down. Every starred Chinese room at three and two stars is below, followed by the duck houses, the dumpling and dim sum halls and the hotel dining rooms. Eighteen places in all.

#13: Jin Ding Xuan (Ditan)
The dim sum hall opposite Ditan Park, a short walk from the Lama Temple, with a menu long enough to lose an argument in. The chain has been shrinking: seven of its stores closed in the first half of 2026, but this one is among the three large flagships it kept. Address: Hepingli West Street, by Ditan Park, Dongcheng District.
#14: Celestial Court (St. Regis Beijing)

International restaurants in Beijing
Steak, beer, weekend lunches, Japanese home cooking, curry and one French tasting menu, mostly in Sanlitun and the CBD, with one long drive out to Shunyi. If you are visiting China from the West and want a break from the wok, this is where it lives. The Japanese, American and Indian sections this page used to run have been merged here: of the 38 rooms they listed, ten came through the 2026 check, too few to carry three sections of their own. Eleven places, with the 2026 two-star Blackswan added.
#1: Blackswan (Shunyi)
Two Michelin stars in the 2026 guide, promoted that year. #11: Indian Kitchen

Italian restaurants in Beijing
Italian is the strongest non-Asian cuisine in Beijing, partly because the luxury hotels compete on it. Prices are high by local standards and the pasta is usually worth it. Seven places.
#1: Il Ristorante Niko Romito
One Michelin star in the 2026 Beijing guide. The Bulgari hotel’s Italian dining room, under the name of a three-Michelin-star chef in Italy, all marble and Murano glass over a garden. Start with the vitello tonnato. Address: 1/F, Bulgari Hotel, Building 2, Courtyard 8, Xinyuan South Road, Chaoyang District.

What changed on this list
Four Din Tai Fung branches were removed. The chain closed all fourteen of its north China stores by 31 October 2024, including eight in Beijing, after its twenty-year licensing arrangement expired. Its Shanghai and Guangzhou stores are unaffected, which is why the brand still appears on other Beijing lists.
Confirmed gone: Nobu Beijing, which no longer appears on Nobu’s own list of locations, and six hotel restaurants missing from their hotels’ current dining lists: Cepe at the Ritz-Carlton Financial Street, Barolo at the Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Nadaman at China World, Choy’s Seafood at the Marriott Northeast, and Miyabi and Bene at the Sheraton Grand Dongcheng. Earlier removals stand: Jing Yaa Tang, which went with The Opposite House when the hotel closed in June 2024; Opera Bombana, which shut in April 2024; Okra 1949 and 3 Little Pigs; and Let’s Burger at Nali Patio.
Everything else that dropped off went for want of evidence, not proof of closure. A venue stays only with a current outlet page, a Michelin listing, or a dated review or article from 2024 or later; thirty-four venues had none. Taj Pavilion is one of them: China Daily reported the business still trading in January 2025, but no current branch address could be confirmed. Four international all-day hotel buffets filed under Chinese, Japanese and American went too, because they serve none of those cuisines in particular. The 2026 three-star and two-star rooms were added, Blackswan among them.
